Majid Bekkas thrives on diversity. For 40 years now, the Moroccan singer and multi-instrumentalist has been bringing his particular blend of traditional Gnawa music, jazz and blues, dubbed “African Gnaoua Blues” to the international stage. He has almost fifteen records to his name, including Al Qantara, released in 2014 on the Belgian label Igloo Records and produced with the aid of Brussels jazzman Manuel Hermia and Franco-Moroccan percussionist Khalid Kouhen.
