Recital on period harpsichords

The Museum of Musical Instruments (MIM) and BOZAR have joined forces for this extraordinary musical experience. The Iranian-American harpsichordist Mahan Esfahani will perform a special programme for the occasion on two rare instruments on loan from the MIM. He likes to use the harpsichord to perform a more contemporary repertoire, a choice supported by his virtuosity and independence in famous concert halls around the world. Incorporating a variety of genres from Renaissance, Baroque to pre-Classicism, this compelling mix of styles includes pieces by William Byrd, Johann Sebastian and Carl Philipp Emmanuel Bach, whose work is counterposed with the fabulous compositions of Iannis Xenakis and the Czech Miroslav Srnka. This performance also marks the Belgian premiere of his 2018 composition, and which was especially written for Esfahani.
