The reputation of the German organist Ludger Lohmann is now firmly established. Titular organist at Stuttgart cathedral, he was won several international competitions, including the famous ARD International Music Competition in 1979. Having earned a PhD in musicology, he focused in particular on the performance of Romantic organ music. These investigations guided him in preparing the programme for this concert, combining two figureheads of Romanticism in music, Brahms and Schumann, and one of the composers who paid particular attention to organ music in the late 19th century, Max Reger.
