Bhopal: the fates of four Indian women from different generations and socio-economic backgrounds coincide as they demonstrate their shared desire for freedom and sexuality through small courageous acts. This is a mischievous and colourful comedy against women’s submission to laws and traditions. Screened for the first time ever in Belgium, this film flew in the face of Indian censorship and won the Grand Jury Prize at the Créteil International Women’s Film Festival.
The female Indian author and director Alankrita Shrivastava started out as an assistant to the director Prakash Jha in Bollywood. Lipstick is her second feature length film.
