Telemann and France

What links a composer like Telemann to France? The composer’s name is often associated with Bach as one of the major figures of German Baroque and had an intimate relationship with Rameau and Clérambault’s homeland. Invited by the major virtuosos of the court, Telemann lived in Paris for eight months: a stay which afforded him international recognition. 250 years after his death, Telemann has provoked a revival of interest amongst the major performers of our era. Christophe Rousset and his Talens Lyriques will pay homage to this amazing musician who was the ambassador of French music in his own country and composed in the French style with disconcerting ease.
