Les Amazones d’Afrique’s first album, 2017’s République Amazone, took the international press by complete surprise. A project featuring exclusively female musicians and vocalists from West Africa – including Kandia Kouyaté, Mariam Doumbia of Amadou & Mariam, and Mamani Keita – Les Amazones d’Afrique are following in the footsteps of traditional Mande music while flying the flag for women musicians in Africa and beyond.
