Taking The Country's Side

What place can a society, which is undergoing profound change possibly have for agriculture? How can we rethink the relationship between human settlements and the productive land in the 21st century? And how should we consider changes in the environment within an existing cultural aggregate? These are questions that French philosopher and historian Sébastien Marot will attempt to answer at his conference at BOZAR. Issues that are also linked to the exhibition he is currently preparing for the Lisbon Architecture Triennial 2019.

Visiting professor at the École polytechnique fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL) and the GSD Harvard, Marot has been editorial director of the periodical Marnes, documents d'architecture since 2010 and has published several books on the links between architecture, memory and landscape. Sébastien Marot will be providing insight into this resolutely contemporary questioning, which he has been involved in for many years now.
