The AUC, Paris

Djamel Klouche, guest speaker at the conference, is co-founder of l'AUC, a Paris-based firm of architects of international renown specialising in town planning.  L'AUC sees architecture as a way of understanding the city and creating new centres of interest within its existing structure. Its concern for regeneration of the urban fabric is expressed through a fierce commitment to reoccupying public spaces by placing human activity at the heart of its projects. Such as at the disused Fives Cail Babcock factory, former gem of the metal industry in Lille left abandoned but now destined to become a new neighbourhood of housing, public infrastructure, local shops and green areas.
