‘Le Lac des Cygnes’

Orchestra, soloists and corps de ballet as well as decors, all from the “Grand Ballet of Ukraine”.

The Swan Lake, the masterpiece of dance was created by the French choreographer Marcel Petipa, master of the Mariinsky Ballet on music by Tchaikovsky.
In 1875, the Russian composer was asked to write music for a ballet and 20 years later, Marseille born Marcel Petipa and his assistant Lev Ivanov created a choreography for the entire version.

Unfortunately, orchestras are often absent at ballet performances in Belgium although they play a primary role in the great Russian tradition!
The magnificent orchestra of 40 musicians will therefore be the key factor in our 2018 tour of “The Swan Lake”, performed by the prestigious “Grand Ballet of Ukraine”.

The decors and special effects will add enormously to the magic of the show.
That is the reason why, instead of the usual tour decors, the original stage sets will be used……. All the elements will be in place for shows of exceptional quality!
The mastery of the soloists and the corps de ballet will of course be impeccable as is always the case with national companies.

In Brussels, the audience will be able to choose between two versions: one with the orchestra on stage in the Palais des Beaux-Arts, one with the orchestra in the pit in the Théâtre St. Michel.

A real amazement!
