‘Le Concert royal de la Nuit - Ensemble Correspondances’

8 June'22
- 20:00

His regal duties aside, Louis XIV's favourite pastime was performing in festive spectacles with sumptuous music, grand scenes and expensive costumes. Sébastien Daucé and his Ensemble Correspondances, major specialists in French baroque music, will present an anthology of the music that was heard during Le Concert Royal de la Nuit – a grand propaganda spectacle in La Salle du Petit-Bourbon at the Louvre Palace, in which the fifteen-year-old Louis XIV danced. During this event, the power of the Sun King was confirmed in a five-part spectacle that aimed for a single goal: the rising of the sun, danced by the King himself.
