‘La rivière bien nommée’

Patrick Corillon uses books and objects to embody the account of a journey.  Gathered around a treasure chest, the spectators listen as the narrator recounts his quest for the origins of the legend of La Rivière bien nommée. Objects, illustrations, typography, music and voices are used for the purposes of the narrative, in the manner of the cantastories or kamishibai, these little travelling paper theatres in which pictures were used by singers and musicians as points of departure to narrate their stories. This traditional art, the earliest traces of which can be found in 6th century India, has crossed the ages and borders to the present day.

La Rivière bien nommée is the occasion for Patrick Corillon to revisit this form of narration.
