Orchestra in Residence - European Gala

Beethoven's Fifth Symphony enjoys an unrivalled position among the all-time greats of music. The composer said that the first few notes sound like "fate knocking at the door". E. T. A. Hoffmann said the work "expresses the Romanticism of music to a very high degree, revealing the infinite". The Concertgebouworkest is the perfect orchestra to convey the work's creative power. The seasoned Austrian conductor Franz Welser-Möst will be presenting the Belgian premiere of Widmann's Babylon Suite.
