Different voices

1865 was a key year in Western musical history. It saw the premiere of Wagner's Tristan und Isolde; the Concerts populaires were launched in Brussels; and Jean Sibelius was born. The members of the Kamus Quartet from Finland pay a tribute to Sibelius, two days before the 150th anniversary of his birth. They play work by Sibelius himself and by the contemporary composer Jukka Tiensuu, another compatriot. The atmosphere in Rack is reminiscent of Sibelius's music, so it is ideal for this programme.
