Action Zoo Humain

Five years after Mohammed Bouazizi set fire to himself, igniting the Tunisian revolution in the process, Action Zoo Humain is making an assessment of the Arab Spring. Chokri, Zou-Zou Ben Chika and the group are well known for their opinionated and direct theatrical style. For ‘Join the Revolution’, they have reinforced their team with writers, thinkers, singers and dancers. Jeroen Olyslaegers and dramaturge Erwin Jans wrote the script and drew inspiration from Henry Purcell’s ‘Dido and Aeneas’. This timeless opera is set in Carthage in the suburbs of Tunis. Tim Gistelynck tempers the actors’ raw energy with his piano compositions. Opera singer Nora Khalouf and singer Walid Ben Chika fill the hall with their soothing vocals while Rochdi Belgasmi performs a subdued dance solo.
