This event is part of 'Disruptive Harmonies', a series of avant-garde concerts held in the newly refurbished Terarken hall. With Farida Amadou, Jlin and Avalanche Kaito. Three artists who are pushing back the boundaries of music through their unique point of view and innovative approach.
The American Jlin is a distinctive voice in the world of contemporary electronica with her rhythmically complex and staggering music. With influences as diverse as rousing Chicago footwork, the music of Miles Davis and Eartha Kitt, as well as Igor Stravinsky’s metrical richness and the obsessive repetitions of Philip Glass, Jlin's uniqueness should come as no surprise. Her energetic music holds the listener completely spellbound with its fierce polyrhythms and raw, dark sound. Jlin has collaborated with other greats such as William Basinski, Holly Herndon and SOPHIE and has written work for the Kronos Quartet, among others. Her EP Perspective earned her a Pulitzer Prize nomination.
At Bozar, she will present her new album Akoma. This project marks an important milestone in her career, not only because of the involvement of Björk and Philip Glass, but also because it introduces a significant evolution in her artistic approach. Jlin does what she does best, skillfully navigating between different musical genres and atmospheres.
