Mendelssohn: Lieder ohne Worte
Kristian Bezuidenhout and Jean-Guihen Queyras have one thing in common: their passion for authentic interpretation and for the rediscovery of, at times, long-forgotten pieces. Equally at home on the piano and the harpsichord, Bezuidenhout is also a virtuoso on the fortepiano, the precursor of our modern piano. It is on this instrument that he will play in this concert dedicated entirely to the works for cello and piano by Felix Mendelssohn. Cellist Jean-Guihen Queyras is an inquisitive spirit who moves from the baroque repertoire to contemporary music. The meeting of these two exceptional musicians will allow us to rediscover Mendelssohn's works, in a palette of colours and intensities very close to that which the composer himself experienced at the beginning of the 19th century.
