L’Orgue du Voyage
More than any other organ concert, this recital invites you to discover an instrument that is unique in the world: L’Orgue du Voyage (The travel organ). Like many organs, this instrument consists of a console and pipes. But it has the distinctive feature of being transportable and modular: its composition of registers (and therefore the number and type of pipes) can be adapted to suit the venue and the repertoire played. Jean-Baptiste Monnot designed the Orgue du Voyage so that he could take organ music everywhere and introduce it to as many people as possible. An excellent organist, Jean-Baptiste Monnot studied with such eminent figures as Olivier Latry and Michel Bouvard. He performs all over the world, and since 2015 has been the titular organist of the Cavaillé-Coll organ in the Abbey of Saint-Ouen in Rouen. Since 2019, he has also been artistic director of the Festival des Orgues Cavaillé-Coll in Normandy.
