One of Europe’s rising musical stars, award-winning János Balázs has been making a name for himself across the continent as an exceptional classical pianist. His passion for the piano, interest in seeing music as beyond genre definitions and talent for improvisation has helped build a stellar reputation around Balázs and his inspiring concerts. It is from two legendary musical artists that Balázs’s inspiration is born: Ferenc Liszt and Georges Cziffra, both well-renowned as pianists of supernatural ability. Audiences of the 2018 Bartók Festival in Brussels will have a chance to experience Balázs’s inspirations first-hand in a concert at the BOZAR, where he presents a programme combining pieces that best represent the founder of the Hungarian piano school Ferenc Liszt, whose rhapsodies were inspired by gypsy music and the folk-inspired compositions of Béla Bartók. The result is a memorable event that perfectly demonstrates the exciting evolution of Hungarian musical styles.
