‘Il Gardellino’

Il Gardellino is a fine, skilful ensemble that has won the hearts of many music-lovers over the years. This programme of vocal and instrumental music gives an idea of the many facets of Bach's genius. We will hear the subtlety of the soprano Sophie Karthäuser's singing in two cantatas, while the celebrated oboe concerto by Marcello, one of Bach's Italian contemporaries, is entrusted to Marcel Ponseele – "the best baroque oboist in the world," in the opinion of Philippe Herreweghe. Ponseele is renowned for his velvety sound and for the profundity of his interpretations.
