‘IDIL BIRET - CENTRE FOR FINE ARTS 1959 – 2019’

Idil Biret’s first performances on the stage of the Palais des Beaux Arts  hall in Brussels took place in January 1959 when she played the Capriccio of Igor Stravinsky with the Orchestre Philharmonique under the direction of Hermann  Scherchen. The concert was repeated five times and Her Majesty Reine Elisabeth de Belgique attended one of the performances. This recital, under the patronage of the Turkish Embassy, commemorates the sixtieth anniversary of Idil Biret’s first performances here.
