Ibrahim Keivo’s music is rooted in Jazireh, the region in Northern Syria that is home to Arabs, Assyrians, Chaldeans, Kurds, Syrians and Armenians. From a young age he learned to play the lutes of the region: buzuq, saz, baghlama, oud and cumbus. With his amazing facility for languages – he is equally at ease in Botani as in Kurdish, Armenian, Assyrian, Turkish and the region's various Arab dialects – Ibrahim Keivo travels through the villages of Jazireh building up a wide repertoire of the musical heritage: lullabies, dances, love songs, epic songs and religious music that he performs with a notable attention to each specific style. With his incredible virtuosity, powerful voice and endless energy, Ibrahim Keivo live is an experience in itself.
