‘I am Europe’

19 Oct.'16
- 19:30

With : Gabriel Da Costa , Judith Henry, Stanislas Nordey, Tatjana Pessoa and Falk Richter

It’s no coincidence that the Brussels Days take place in BOZAR. Culture also has a role to play in the big debates on Europe which will be taking place in the Centre for Fine Arts. It also has something to say on the matter. Leading contemporary author and director Falk Richter uses three creations, fluctuating between reading and play, to look for answers to questions raised by the identity crises and fears that are troubling Europe. In FEAR, a group of artists investigates the protagonists of the new far right movements and tries to find ways to combat them with art. In Je suis Fassbinder a fictitious group of actors, faced with a charismatic yet tyrannical director, questions the major contradictions and problems of European society, just like the Fassbinder group did in the 1970s. Finally, in Città del Vaticano, a group of young performers takes a closer look at the Catholic Church’s identity model and, starting out with their personal stories and passions, compares it to the old homophobic, misogynous and chauvinist European models. The texts of these works are read out by Stanislas Nordey, Judith Henry, Gabriel Costa, Tatjana Pessoa and Falk Richter.
