When our polyphony was moving Europe
At Bozar’s request, Paul Van Nevel put together a programme that reflects the reputation and charisma of our polyphonists to the farthest corners of Europe. The concert’s works have three things in common: all composers were born in an area that is now Belgium, spent a crucial part of their lives abroad, and excel in musical originality. The result is a beautiful polyphonic colour palette that includes lesser-known works by Antwerp-based Arnold Van Eynde and Ghent-based Theodoricus Gerarde to masters such as Lassus, De Monte, and Dufay. Let the Huelgas Ensemble’s incredible perfection of performance catapult you back to the heyday of polyphony.
