‘Harriet Krijgh & Magda Amara’

26 Jan.'16
- 19:00

Rising Star Wiener Konzerthaus & Musikverein Wien

Warning Concert at 7pm

With its warm, deep sound, the cello is the Romantic instrument par excellence. The Mendelssohn and Franck sonatas chosen by Harriet Krijgh are thoroughly Romantic works. Between them, she makes an excursion into the 20th century to perform the fifth movement of the celebrated Quatuor pour la fin du Temps by the profoundly religious Olivier Messiaen. "Louange à l'Eternité de Jésus" is a meditative and solemn, but also dynamic, hymn of praise to the eternity of Jesus. Its tempo, Messiaen indicated, should be infiniment lent, extatique (infinitely slow, ecstatic).
