‘Hagen Quartett’

Jörg Widmann is a musical all-rounder: conductor, composer and clarinettist – the German artist is equally successful in every role he performs. As an artist-in-resident at BOZAR, Widmann will be displaying all three dimensions of his musical talent this season. He will be playing clarinet in this concert. With the Hagen Quartett he will perform the two most famous and outstanding clarinet quintets in the history of Western music: those composed by Mozart and Brahms. The first of its kind, Mozart's quintet truly focused attention on this genre, while Brahms' quintet signalled a breakthrough for the clarinet as an undisputed solo instrument.
