The ultimate reference in traditional Armenian music returns to Bozar. The Gurdjieff Ensemble is internationally known for its authentic arrangements of traditional Armenian and Middle Eastern music. Their highly acclaimed albums Music of Georges I: Gurdjieff and Komitas, released by ECM Records, received the prestigious Edison Award. Their new album, entitled Zartir ('wake up' in Armenian) and inspired by the 17th century poet Paghtasar Dpir, features three centuries of music: hymns, prayers and songs, including those of the famous 19th century Armenian ashoughs (troubadours), Sayat Nova and Jivani. Immerse yourself in music that promises to be mysterious, haunting, sometimes rhythmic and energetic: imbued with invigorating beauty and deep roots.
