A discovery that could change humanity's history

BOZAR offers you an in-depth exploration of the latest archaeological discoveries that are revolutionising established ideas about how society was organised in the Neolithic period. The site at Göbekli Tepe (in south-eastern Turkey), which contains what are often described as the world's first temples (11,000 BC), has yielded evidence of the first forms of domestication and of the emergence of a social hierarchy. The investigations there tie in with others throughout the region, which have revealed the existence of a completely sedentary, stratified society with sophisticated craft skills and a complex network for the exchange of raw materials, products, and technologies. A number of the greatest experts on the subject will discuss these developments with Professor Marc Waelkens, the curator of EUROPALIA TURKEY's Anatolia exhibition.
