‘Gewandhausorchester Leipzig’

27 Apr.'18
- 20:00

Established in 1781, the Gewandhausorchester Leipzig is very much a compendium of musical history. From Mendelssohn to Chailly via Nikisch, Furtwängler, Walter and Masur, many inimitable music directors have left their mark on this orchestra. Consequently, Andris Nelsons' programme features genre and epoch-defying masterpieces: Mozart's Symphony N° 40, a pinnacle of Viennese classical music, Tchaikovsky's "Pathétique" symphony with its poignant Romantic nuances and the Belgian premiere of a work by the contemporary Austrian composer Thomas Larcher.
