"Gaye Su Akyol, the star of Turkish rock," is how the famous French magazine Les Inrockuptibles once described her. An artist who is very sensitive to cultural diversity.   "It may be a cliché, but in a way Istanbul is in itself a bridge between cultures, in particular  when it comes to music and even more so as regards the Greek influence," explains the singer, known for her ability to create a fusion between traditional music and grunge, surf, rock and psychedelic influences. The daughter of the painter Muzaffer Akyol has managed to create her very own world, inspired by the breath of free speech in Turkish society. A genuine phenomenon on the Turkish underground scene, she alternates lyrical atmospheres and feverish explosions of musical energy that combat the cultural conservatism of the established order.
