Tim Burton is an American film director, screenwriter and producer, a master of the fantastic and an excellent storyteller, strongly influenced by the writer Edgar Allan Poe. His cinema is characterised by stories featuring marginal characters, and a strong influence from fantastic cinema, German expressionist cinema, and the films of Hammer Film Productions. He is one of those filmmakers who manages to combine critical and commercial success. Beetlejuice, Batman, Edward Scissorhands, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Alice in Wonderland, and Big Fish are just some of his most famous films.
