André Isoir was the organist at Saint-Médard, Saint-Séverin and Saint-Germain-des-Prés: three famous Paris churches. He had a great passion for Johann Sebastian Bach and made a number of impressive transcriptions for organ of the composer's most beautiful cantatas and concertos. His arrangement of Bach's Concerto for Four Harpsichords is a particularly impressive example of his work. Michel Bouvard and François Espinasse, two of the finest organists of their generation and professors at the Conservatoires Nationaux Supérieurs de Musique in Paris and Lyon respectively, pay homage both to André Isoir, their teacher, and to Bach's eternal music.
