Griet van de Velde is interested in the present and points of view as products of their time. Her personal visual interpretation allows you to transcend the moment, and renders the ordinary exceptional. She makes seemingly mundane aspects of everyday life significant, as if founding a ‘philosophy of the moment’. Her artistic approach therefore consists of re-contextualising the experience she photographs, making it metaphorically unique, going beyond its basic physical and material manifestation, to relate it to our imagination.
