Dichterliebe
The great Henry Le Boeuf Hall often serves as the scene of wonderful musical occasions. But to be able to welcome two giants like Matthias Goerne and Evgeny Kissin at the same time is undoubtedly a rare event, one that will leave a lasting impression. For this extraordinary concert, the two artists have chosen a monument of 19th-century musical literature: Robert Schumann's Dichterliebe cycle (The Poet's Loves). Mathias Goerne is considered one of the best interpreters of this cycle, which embodies the soul of German Romanticism. The poet Heinrich Heine, here set to music by Schumann, was also set to music by Johannes Brahms. Therefore, it is only natural that Goerne and Kissin should also offer us a selection of these lieder, among the most inspired.
