Meet the writer

Éric Vuillard, recent winner of the Prix Goncourt, is BOZAR’s guest for an exclusive talk. This French author has been read for many years by discerning lovers of literature but as a winner of France’s most illustrious literature prize he is now set to reach a wide public.
His prizewinning work L’ordre du jour looks at the Anschluss, Hitler’s annexation of Austria in 1938 and the support that the Nazi war machine received from German industrialists. When the book was published there were parallels drawn with today’s populism. In the words of the Goncourt jury, Vuillard shows “that history is always another way of looking at the present”.

Éric Vuillard will be closing the Brussels Days. The same day you can also attend a debate on culture and Europe with panelists including Françoise Nyssen, Vuillard’s former publisher with Actes Sud who was recently appointed French culture minister.
