‘Ensemble Intercontemporain & Solistes XXI’

29 Apr.'17
- 20:00

The Ensemble Intercontemporain (EIC), founded by Pierre Boulez in 1976 specifically to promote contemporary classical music, emanates the avant-garde. Every year, the EIC commissions new work to add to the ensemble’s enormous repertoire of 20th and 21st century music. In this concert, the EIC is performing work by Joan Magrané Figuera, György Ligeti and Edgard Varèse. The ensemble creates a dialogue between these modern pieces and music by medieval and Renaissance masters, who were, many centuries ago, pioneers themselves. You will discover many surprising parallels and connections and hear the unmistakable medieval roots of our contemporary music.
