When Christmas comes
In the 17th century, as it is today, the celebration of Christmas was a key event in religious life. This mysteriously atmospheric concert given by the Ensemble Correspondances, conducted by Sébastien Daucé, tells the story of the Nativity through the work of composers of that time such as Charpentier, Boësset, and Bouzignac. Charpentier achieved a stylish, sensual synthesis between the French masters of the beginning of the Grand Siècle and Roman composers of the 1650s such as Carissimi and Foggia.
