‘Encounter with Jorge León (film director), George van Dam (composer) and Isabelle Dumont (dramaturge)’

8 Feb.'16
- 18:30

The masterclass will be organised around questions raised by the cinematographic and musical adaptation of the email exchange between the French psychoanalyst Jacques-Alain Miller and the Iranian psychoanalyst Mitra Kadivar who was held in a psychiatric hospital in Teheran against her will in 2013.
Jorge León uses these digital exchanges to explore the mythical dimension of the real drama experienced by Mitra and to question the fine line between reason and folly.
This masterclass will be an opportunity to participate in a reflection on an ongoing writing project from a cinematographic and musical perspective. With the aid of pre-recorded extracts from film sequences and experimental music, we will enter into the intricacies of a process of creation whereby emails, with no initial literary vocation, become a source of inspiration for the creation of a documentary cine-opera.
This lesson also fits in within the context of a series of masterclasses specifically devoted to the staging of music in documentary cinema, organised in the course of the 2015/16 season by Le P'tit Ciné and DVDoc, and sponsored by the Sabam.
