Ensemble Intercontemporain

Not long after the death of its founder, Pierre Boulez, the Ensemble Intercontemporain presents a concert that is exceptional in two ways. In its form, firstly: the celebrated French ensemble takes us on a musical trail through the Centre for Fine Arts, with its musicians gathering in different spaces around the building and inviting you to listen to the programme of your choice, at 8 pm and 8.30 pm. And in its content, too, when everyone meets up again in the Henry Le Boeuf Hall for a chamber version of Mahler's Das Lied von der Erde. This arrangement emphasises the feeling of intimacy of a work the composer considered his most personal, written soon after the tragic death of his elder daughter.
