The sacred and the Romantic

Our guests the Deutsche Radio Philharmonie perform Bruckner’s Te Deum, probably the composer’s greatest work of sacred music. The rest of their programme is devoted to Brahms, from the exuberant Academic Festival Overture to the poignant Nänie and the popular Alto Rhapsody (originally a wedding present for Schumann’s daughter Julie).
