Ivan the Terrible

Why did Eisenstein and Prokofiev have to prematurely terminate their phenomenal film trilogy on Ivan the Terrible? You will find the answer in this new concert presentation of Prokofiev’s majestic score. Actors Jan Decleir and Stefaan Degand bring great empathy to this contemporary rendering of this tumultuous tale. Together with a large symphony orchestra, solo vocalists and choir conducted by Martyn Brabbins, they relate a universal story of great emotions and historic events that had an impact on the lives of millions of people. Viewed with today’s eyes and heard through today’s ears, this new version of Ivan the Terrible tells us much about our modern world.
