Elektra

For the tenth anniversary of Theatergroep D ° eFFekt, director Koen Boesman sinks his teeth into a Greek trilogy. Elektra is the third installment in this project. The Trojan war was ten years ago. Dust lays thick over the palace in Argos. Agamemnon has been buried. Klytaimnestra swings the scepter and Elektra mourns. She is waiting for her brother Orestes so they can, together, fulfill her revenge. To avenge the murder of her father she desires to end the life of her mother. This endless cycle of ‘eye for an eye’ crescendos inevitably to a bloody peak. Only the losers remain.

Feedback from the jury: classical repertoire; amateur artists with an interesting perspective; musical theatre; passionate work ethic and devotion; cheers for Greek tragedy; contemporary theatre.

Theater group D ° eFFeKt originated from the advanced course "Theatre is play" taught in the Brussels’ Community Center, The Market, as part of the Laplan project. The students’ enthusiasm to perform for an audience and to create together was enormous. Thus, the Brussels Theatre Company was founded. In 2017, D ° eFFeKt celebrated its 10th anniversary with a true Greek trilogy led by Koen Boesman.
