No one is better placed to offer an introduction to the wonderful world of Iranian music than Dariush Talai and Keyvan Chemirani. Few people know more about Persian classical music than Talai, who strives to keep that music alive and to transmit it to younger generations, both as a teacher and as a performer. He is a virtuoso on the tär and the setar, long-necked lutes that occupy an iconic position in Iranian music. Keyvan Chemirani, for his part, was born into a musical family specialised in Iranian percussion. He is steeped in Dariush Talai's music and accompanies the master on the tombak, a wooden goblet drum that is the Iranian percussion instrument par excellence.
