‘Concert of the Royal Symphonic Band of the Belgian Guides’

12 Nov.'24
- 20:00

Every year, the association "The Friends of the Royal Symphonic Band of the Belgian Guides (AMRG/VKMG) organizes a gala concert at the Palais des Beaux-Arts in Brussels. As usual, this event will take place on the occasion of King's Day, but this year also to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the founding of NATO. This concert will take place at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 12, 2024 in the Henri Le Boeuf hall.

The Royal Symphonic Band of the Belgian Guides, once the King’s private band, will present a very varied program that will be very pleasant to listen to.
The first part of the concert will start with the overture The Bartered Bride by Bedrich Smetana, whose 200th birthday is celebrated this year, and it will end with the famous Violin Concerto in D minor by Jean Sibelius, which will be performed by the 3rd laureate of the Queen Elisabeth of Belgium International Music Competition, Elli CHOI.
Some of you have already enjoyed Elli Choi in her various performances during the competition. It will be a great joy to meet her again during this great evening.

After the intermission, the last two countries to join NATO will be honored, Sweden and Finland, described by Jean Sibelius's Finlandia, which will take us to this land of a thousand lakes in the North of Europe.
We will then make a trip to Italy with Ottorino Respighi’s Pini di Roma and another one to Spain with España by Emmanuel Chabrier. The evening will end, in a lighter way, thanks to Mancini Spectacular, a compilation of the music of Henri Mancini, best known for his compositions of film scores.
But the Royal Symphonic Band of the Belgian Guides will remain faithful to its traditions by playing the splendid March of the First Guides Regiment.
