The Brussels Choral Society and the Brussels Philharmonic Orchestra will perform a concert with the promise of uplifting our spirits after the longest period in living memory of being deprived of live music.
We will hear Brahms’ Nänie, a setting of Schiller’s short poem offering comfort and consolation to those who mourn. Mahler’s beautiful Adagietto from his 5th symphony, one of the most popular pieces of classical music, illustrates the power of music to evoke and enhance our deepest and most intense emotions, and Mendelssohn’s grand second Symphony, Hymn of Praise, radiates energy, optimism, and hope.
This concert will also mark the world premiere of On the Edge of Hope, composed especially for this occasion by Eric Delson, the Musical Director of the Brussels Choral Society.
