Mohammed Assaf won Arab Idol in 2013 with a song about Yasser Arafat's keffiyeh (shawl). Since then, the Palestinian singer has become hugely popular in the Middle East and has won the MTV Europe Music Award for the best act from the region. Assaf has also been active as a goodwill ambassador for UNRWA, the United Nations agency that helps Palestinian refugees. He will be the central guest at the third edition of Moussem Sounds, which this year has a special focus on Palestine.
