International Day against Trans- and Homophobia with Bisi Alimi and Karel Blondeel
Last year, BOZAR signed the Manifest “Towards a Bright LGBTI+ Future” that expresses its solidarity for sexual minorities, and is now proud to pursue its engagement to this end.
Building on last year’s success of our day “Colors of the Rainbow”, a series of events will be organized this year, dedicated to the memory of Ihsane Jarfi. Ihsane was assassinated because of his sexual orientation and his father will take the floor.
We are also organizing an online auction. You will be able these discover pieces of art in the context of an exceptional exhibition. It will be followed by the official start of the auction, the gains of which go to the Foundation Ihsane Jarfi. Afterwards two prestigious lectures will speak: Bisi Alimi, Nigerian activist that had to flee his country and that advocates for the rights of the LGBTIQ and Karel Blondeel (UGent), expert in social and physical violence towards the LGBTIQ community. The evening will end with a reception and a concert by LA DIVA (BE).
Bianca Debaets, Brussels Secretary of State for Equal Rights and Paul Dujardin, CEO of BOZAR will introduce the evening.
