‘Club Night | Space Afrika’

21 Sept.'24
- 22:30

For one night only, the Centre for Fine Arts will be transformed into a nightclub. Switch from one auditorium to another and curate your own musical experience at Club Night.

Space Afrika’s music is a shadowy mosaic. An overlapping of dialogues, rhythms, textures and samples, “half heard through a bus window on a rainy night.” Space Afrika emerged from Manchester’s dub techno scene but has since moved to eclectic Berlin, where their sound designs absorb a range of influences. For example, the experimental songwriter Rainy Miller collaborated on their third album, A Grisaille Wedding. Pitchfork wrote: “A blend of gossamer ambient pop and thunderous hip-hop wrench at themselves, tugging between softer and heavier sounds.” Space Afrika’s palette changes colour with each new project but retains an undertone of grey: a tint that is not sombre but sublime. Their poetic vignettes leave a deep impression.

This concert is part of Club Night during our Opening Week 24-25. Keep an eye on this page for the full programme. A ticket to Club Night gives you access to all the concerts and shows, but please bear the limited capacity of our auditoria in mind.
