‘Club Night: corto.alto’

21 Sept.'24
- 19:00

For one night only, the Centre for Fine Arts will be transformed into a nightclub. Switch from one auditorium to another and curate your own musical experience at Club Night.

Glasgow has grown into a real jazz hotspot in recent years. One of the revelations is corto.alto, the band around composer and multi-instrumentalist Liam Shortall. Shortall provides hypnotic sounds on keyboards and virtuosically alternates between guitar, bass and trombone during live concerts. On their debut album Bad With Names (2023), corto.alto delivers an accessible sound, but behind the surface it is full of subtle tempo shifts. Inimitably, the band weaves disparate musical styles - from hip-hop, broken beat, dub and punk - through jazz. The result is a mesmerizing fusion that challenges the boundaries of contemporary jazz.

This concert is part of Club Night during our Opening Week 24-25. Keep an eye on this page for the full programme. A ticket to Club Night gives you access to all the concerts and shows, but please bear the limited capacity of our auditoria in mind.
