Visualize climate change in 3 acts
On the initiative of film director and visual artist Frank Theys, 4 scientists from different disciplines are invited with the aim of providing a broad insight into the impact of climate change and the dynamic interaction with geopolitical developments. The debate is an initiative of Frank Theys. The idea is to visualize global changes due to climate change on a world map. For the purpose of the activity, Frank Theys will paint a world map on a large table and invite each speaker to use paint and brush to indicate the possible changes that can take place in the course of this century, seen from different angles - on the geological level, ecological, geopolitical, migration, mitigation. The presentation will consist of 3 “acts”, with a best-case scenario, a middle-of-the-road and a worst-case scenario, and is followed by a discussion with the audience.
Participants:
- Prof. Dr. Philippe Huybrechts (geographer at VUB, Brussels and lead author of the 6th IPCC report, Working Group 1)
- Prof. Mara Baudena (ecologist, researcher at the Institute of Atmospheric Sciences and Climate (CNR-ISAC) in Turin, Italy)
- Colonel Roger Housen (former colonel of the Belgian Army and conflict analyst at NATO)
