‘Cinekino. Pour une histoire du cinéma européen - Jean Ollé-Laprune & Rainer Rother’

25 March is the 60th anniversary of the Treaty of Rome. BOZAR is marking the occasion by placing the spotlight on the wealth and diversity of European films and will be screening the first three parts of CineKino, a cycle of 10 documentaries devoted to the cinematic history of as many European countries. Due to its length - 26 minutes per episode – and the lively pace it wanted to convey, CineKino is not interested in going back over 10 national cinematographic journeys in an academic and conventional manner but has chosen to recreate a snapshot from the cinema of each country and highlight what the genius of each culture has naturally retained from its own masterpieces. This is a powerful natural process, because the message, the story, the interpretation and the emotion go beyond borders to reach the universal and speak to us all. Additional proof, if that were needed, that European peoples are destined to live together in the diversity of their respective contributions, enriching one another with some 120 years of shared cinematic history.
